Cloud:Advice for hosting 500 niche websites
|Posted by unikbit, 01-05-2012, 10:31 AM|
I own almost 500 niche websites in the travel area, all are html( css some js and php).
Curently hosted with hostagtor reseller plan.
I'm thinking on moving to a cloud hosting infrastructure.
My traffic is now 50GB/month but for sure will increase. Now we have almost 300.000 visitors monthly but will increase for sure to 5 mil this year.
So I think the traffic will be almost 700 GB at the end of the year of 2012.
We need also WHM/Cpanel.
We would like to know other people who use cloud hosting and have at least 100 websites with that company.
We look for HA, high availability of our websites: 100%. Now we pay 24 usd at hostgator and we can increase to 40 usd/month fo 50 GB space and 250GB bandwith
Thx for any sugestion

For cpanel with 500 sites, you would need at least 2GB RAM 9will probably work ok with 1GB) but certainly no less than that, so you might need to increase your budget slightly.

You're willing to pay almost 10 cents per website per month and looking for High Availability? Not sure if I'm being trolled here. But when I see 500 websites on a reseller plan it does make me lament for the reseller hosting model.

If you looking for High Availability then I am going to assume you want something quality.
That being said, I'd suggest you raise your budget a little and save headaches/problems later on. The great thing here is that with most cloud hosting providers you can start with something smaller and adjust your resources to meet your needs later this way your really only paying for what your using.
Hope this helps
