setting up temporary domains

Hello All, I am a n00bie to web hosting and I apologize in advance if my question is stupid. I created a new account in WHM and began my site development. Browser access was provided by accessing an ip address one digit smaller than the ip that reaches the main domain. I finished the development of the first site and repointed the domain to my nameservers. My question is this: I want to develope the next site, so I created another account (also registered the domain name and pointed it to my nameservers). I would like to develop the second site while I wait for the propagation to take place, however the ip assigned by WHM is the same as the ip for the first site! I tried choosing another ip from the drop down list in WHM to no avil. The different username and password gives me access to the root folder of the new domain, but how can I see my work thru a browser?
